Zelensky: Ukraine will hold elections if Russia agrees to a 60-day ceasefire

The Ukrainian president made the offer conditional on Moscow's consent to a two-month halt in fighting. According to The Insider, in March he ruled out a vote before the war ends.

Volodymyr Zelensky said Ukraine is ready to hold elections if Russia agrees to a 60-day ceasefire, Mediazona, The Insider and Novaya Gazeta Europe reported on 11 October.

Novaya Gazeta Europe, citing RBC-Ukraine and Zelensky’s interview with ABC News, quotes him: “If President Trump really wants elections, tell Putin: give us two months of a full ceasefire, and we will hold elections.” He added that Ukraine would be ready to accept whatever choice its people make.

The Insider notes that in March Zelensky ruled out holding a vote before the war was over. The other two outlets’ items available to us do not mention that earlier position, so this comparison rests on one source.

The items do not include a response from Moscow.
