Girlfriend of Izhevsk activist Dmitry Morozov says he was tortured during his arrest

Daria Bagina says Morozov was beaten and given electric shocks, and that his interrogators wanted a confession to financing Ukraine. So far the account rests on her words alone.

Daria Bagina, the girlfriend of Izhevsk activist Dmitry Morozov, has described how he was treated when he was detained. OVD-Info reported her account, noting that RusNews had drawn attention to her post.

“He was beaten during the arrest, given electric shocks to the face, ribs and legs, and hung upside down by his legs in handcuffs,” Bagina wrote. According to her, Morozov never saw the faces of the people who did this: a black bag wrapped in tape had been put over his head. After the prolonged torture, she wrote, they kept kicking him.

Bagina also says his interrogators tried to get him to confess to financing Ukraine. The available text of the OVD-Info report is cut off at the point where it lists the other accusations, so they are not given here.

The account comes from one person, and no independent outlet has so far confirmed it. The items available to us contain no response from law enforcement and no information on the charges against Morozov.
