Ukrainian drones attacked industrial facilities in Omsk on Oct. 24, according to BBC Russian Service, Meduza, Ukrainska Pravda and The Kyiv Independent. Ukrainska Pravda and The Kyiv Independent put the distance at about 2,500 kilometres from the Ukrainian border. For Russian readers, the story shows how far from the front the war now reaches, and how much of the picture in official statements is missing.
Russian state media give a narrow account. TASS, in Russian and in English, reports that three people were injured in the drone attack on the Omsk Region. The English-language item attributes this to the governor and says emergency services are still working at the site. The Russian-language item adds that the injured are receiving “all necessary medical help”.
In the TASS items available to Sverka, there is no mention of which facilities were hit, what was damaged, or whether a fire broke out. The injury count and the medical assistance are the governor’s and TASS’s claims. No independent outlet in this batch confirms or disputes them.
Meduza reports that the drones attacked the “northern industrial hub” of Omsk, a phrase it attributes to Governor Vitaly Khotsenko. In its headline, Meduza says a petrochemical plant and an Ozon warehouse were hit. BBC Russian Service also reports a drone attack on an Ozon warehouse in Omsk, in its running coverage of the war.
Ukrainska Pravda, citing OSINT, writes that drones hit the Omsky Kauchuk chemical facility and caused a large fire. Only this outlet names the plant and reports the fire, so both points are attributed to it. The Kyiv Independent, citing monitoring channels, says Ukraine struck several targets in Siberia, including a petrochemical plant and a warehouse.
The Insider reports that Ukraine attacked two Russian rubber plants within a day. The outlet adds that rubber is used in making military equipment and rocket-fuel components. The text of the item available to Sverka does not link either plant to Omsk, so this report gives context on the type of target but does not confirm which facility was hit.
The BBC item also covers other events of the day, including strikes on the Dnipropetrovsk region that caused casualties. That is a separate part of the war and has no bearing on the Omsk casualty count. The TASS items were published on Oct. 25, hours after the independent reports of Oct. 24.
Several points remain open. No source in this batch gives the scale of the damage to the plant or the warehouse, the cause or duration of the fire, or where the three injured people were hurt. The strike on Omsk Kauchuk, the fire and the identity of the second rubber plant rest on one outlet or on monitoring channels each. The Defence Ministry’s account is not among the items reviewed.
