The Belgorod FSB says it has opened a case against the editor-in-chief of the Belgorod outlet Pepel. Meduza and Mediazona reported it on 26 October.
The Belgorod branch of the FSB has opened a criminal case against Nikita Parmenov, editor-in-chief of the outlet Pepel, on a charge of justifying terrorism. Meduza reported this on 26 October.
Meduza cites the local outlet Fonar, which in turn refers to a statement from the security service. Meduza’s reports do not say what specific material or statements the case concerns.
Mediazona, in its own report, says Parmenov was charged in absentia with justifying terrorism. Meduza’s reports do not mention an in-absentia charge, and the items do not say where Parmenov is.
The charge is the FSB’s allegation. The reports do not include a response from Parmenov or from Pepel, and no court decision has been reported.
