Ukrainian negotiators head to the US as the Kremlin holds to its terms

Meetings are due on Friday and Saturday. Moscow says a Zelensky–Putin meeting can only happen in Moscow.

Ukrainian negotiators are due to hold meetings in the US on Friday and Saturday. In September, the Kremlin said three-way talks with Ukraine and the US could take place in October.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov called a Zelensky–Putin meeting at the G20 summit in Miami in December impossible, insisting it could only happen in Moscow. Earlier rounds have failed, partly over Moscow’s demand that Ukraine cede eastern territory Russian forces have not captured.
